During the past few months, we've heard the phrase “unprecedented times” many times. Your continued support has allowed us to adapt and make some “unprecedented” changes at Rethreaded. We are so grateful to be able to shift our entire business model to the production of cotton masks and medical masks to many hospitals in our community.
Our staff has not missed a beat as we continue to be blown away by all their hard work! These updates at Rethreaded have also brought something exciting, especially for the times we are in changes and new additions to the staff!
To help Rethreaded deliver masks quickly, Gloria Love stepped in as soon as COVID began to help full-time with mask production. Gloria started working at Rethreaded in 2019 as Rethreaded Founder and CEO, Kristin Keen’s, Executive Assistant. Sewing since she was around 8-9 years old, Gloria switched to the role of seamstress alongside Kristin and the temporary hire of Bryn and Holly. They would spend many hours a day making thousands of masks while listening to podcasts and music, sometimes sewing up to 600+ masks in a single day.

“I'm so thankful that I have been able to be part of the solution,” said Gloria Love. “One of my values is that during a hard time, I want to focus on what I can do in order to keep myself from being overwhelmed by the things that I cannot change.”
When full-time mask production came to an end, Gloria has now transitioned to the role of Holistic Services Coordinator. In this role, she is responsible for training the Rethreaded staff. She will be working alongside Erin, our Survivor Advocate Program Coordinator. Gloria notes how “Life is better when it is not only lived together but when we bring our whole self into the process. I want to see Rethreaded have the resources to do this to the best of our collective abilities.” We cannot wait to see Gloria shine in her new role.
We are also incredibly excited to have new additions to the Rethreaded team! Lisa Sherrit is our new Staff Accountant, a huge answer to our prayers. Our team was in great need of a staff accountant, and Lisa is filling this role tremendously. Her job extends to working with all the various departments at Rethreaded, and Lisa feels “very blessed to be hired during these unique times.”
“I have been warmly welcomed by the team and they have been answering all my questions graciously,” said Lisa. The staff is so excited to have Lisa on board, and we can’t wait to see what she will continue to bring to the team!
We are so proud of our staff at Rethreaded, not only with how they have been able to adjust to all the changes happening in the world but continue to work tirelessly every day! Additionally, we are incredibly grateful for our community. You never cease to amaze us with their continued support. We couldn’t do what we do without organizations like the Women’s Giving Alliance Grant, which provides extra support to our survivor development program. This also allows us to bring on eight survivor employees in August! Once again, we could not have done this without our wonderful community, thank you!
