"People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.” – Unknown

@Rethreadedinc is a social entrepreneurship that is breaking the cycle of the sex trade by offering viable and creative work to those affected by the sex trade i.e. prostitution, drug addiction and human trafficking. Rethreaded offers the oppressed a chance to grow into the fullness of who they are.

Sex trafficking is something that has always fascinated me. I’m an empath, I feel other peoples emotions as if they were my own. However, the thought of inflicting harm and or suffering upon another person is literally something I cannot even begin nor will I ever understand.

Although I cannot empathize nor understand the mind and inner workings of a sex trafficker, I can whole heartedly identify with a sex tracking victim. Not that I've ever been victimized in that way, I'm able to relate in the sense of feeling helpless, hopeless and completely alone. “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” – Martin Luther King, Jr. When I was suffering through my eating disorder and depression I choose isolation, I didn’t speak up for fear of something being taken from me, and the longer I went without speaking up the faster my life was coming to an end. Just as I was afraid to speak out, many of those being trafficked even when given the opportunity are afraid to speak up while it’s happening or after the fact for many reasons. Fear for their lives, embarrassment, shame, guilt, etc. We've turned issues such as sex, sexual violence and addiction into topics of taboo. Its time that came to an end, we only have two choices if we wish the world to become a better or even half way decent place, to do something or do nothing, you can choose to turn the other way but you cannot say that you didn’t know.

The greatest model of love is shown through grace, mercy & compassion. We cannot love without acceptance. Acceptance comes from knowing someone's story. By knowing each other, we are more free to love and enter into each other's lives in a healthy non-judgmental way.

We have become so afraid of one another. My best guess as to why is we are all afraid of the secrets we keep becoming exposed. We are who we are when no one is looking. We live in fear of judgement, expectations placed upon us by ourselves, peers, parents, the media etc. Unobtainable lifestyle goals that until we reach make us feel “less than.” So in an attempt to feel better, to normalize and numb out we find ways to cope, in secret. Its never too late and you are never too old to make changes. You have to want to change, the differences you make are for yourself not for anyone else. We do the best we can with what we have, there is strength in being vulnerable and admitting to yourself and or someone else that you are struggling and need help.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

Life is not about being the best or better than anyone else, being the best version of yourself is enough. The only goal that you should have is to be a better version of yourself than you were the day before. Drop expectations, expectation is why we suffer. We tell are self “ill be happy when…” and if we never achieve that“ when” we feel like we’ve failed, are unworthy and happiness seems more unachievable than before. So rather than “ill be happy when” start saying“ i’m happy now.” I created a “better than yesterday” plan for myself. I look at what I did and who I was the day before and try and simply match that or be a better version, If I didn’t exercise the day before by exercising today I've already had a “better” day. By calling an old friend, leaving a nice comment on someones social media, smiling at a stranger, cooking something healthy for myself, I can have a better day than I had the day before and help to shed and spread some love and light for others as well.
