Mother of Peace

Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta was a conduit of peace which the world, 18 years after her death, still feels today. Her life is marked by leaps of faith, unwavering devotion, and service to the poorest of the poor. She founded a Roman Catholic religious congregation, Missionaries of Charity. Missionaries of Charity operates in 133 countries and 4,500 nuns work to run houses for the dying, the terminally ill, and those considered untouchable by societies. In her words her goal was to be of service to the "the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, the blind, the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone." She was awarded a multitude of honors including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

Mother Teresa set an example of passionately loving all people regardless of circumstances. She is an inspiration to everyone on the Rethreaded team, and we would like to thank her today, International Peace Day. Start with a smile, and change the world.
